[2010.03.03 - Larnaka, Cyprus] Canada Wins Cyprus Cup Former Fury Midfielder Nets Winner The Canadian Women's National team captured their second Cyprus Cup championship in the past three years after defeating New Zealand 1-0 thanks to a 71st minute strike from former Fury W-League midfielder Diana Matheson. After playing to a scoreless draw through 45 minutes that saw Canada own most of the chances, they took complete control in the second half and made goalkeeper Karina Leblanc's job very simple.
Fury Youth graduate Christina Julien started for Canada and while she failed to score for the first time in this tournament she certainly remained a threat on the field. Julien's 3 goals, which all proved to be game winning goals helping lead Canada to a 3-0-0 record in the round robin and a date in the championship final for the third consecutive year. Canada had won the title in 2008 before falling to England in last year's championship game.
[2010.03.02 - Larnaka, Cyprus] A Winner's Touch Fury Youth Graduate Christina Julien Leading the Way for Canada It was exactly a year ago that Fury Youth graduate Christina Julien first donned the Canadian colours and set foot on the field to represent Canada at the Cyprus Cup. There, Julien achieved what many only dream of doing - scoring in her first game, on her first shot no less. Now, returning to the Cyprus Cup a year later she has led Canada back to the Championship final for a third consecutive year.
On March 3 the Canadian Women’s National team will face New Zealand in the championship final thanks in large part to three crucial goals from Christina Julien, better known as Corky to her teammates. All three goals proved to be game winners in victories over Switzerland (2-1), reigning Cyprus Cup champions England (1-0) and South Africa (2-1).
[2010.03.01 - Larnaka, Cyprus] Canada and New Zealand Use Strength of Fury Plethora of 2009 Fury W-Leaguers feature for both senior national teams The Canadian Soccer Association announced earlier last month the 24-player roster to represent Canada at the Cyprus Cup. One-third of Canada's roster is made up of current and former Fury W-League players that include Robyn Gayle, Christina Julien, Diana Matheson, Carmelina Moscato, Marie-Eve Nault, Kelly Parker, Sari Raber and Rhian Wilkinson.
It is with this Fury firepower that the team currently finished round robin with a perfect 3-0 record - (after beating South Africa 3-0 earlier today). Returning Fury W-League player Christina Julien has been red-hot throughout the tournament, scoring against South Africa while also bulging the twine in the 2-1 victory over Switzerland and netting the lone winner in a 1-0 victory over England.
[2010.02.27 - Larnaka, Cyprus] Julien's Winner Puts Canada Into Cyprus Cup Final Hearn's Penalty Keeps New Zealand's Tournament Hopes Alive.jpg) Christina Julien's 9th minute tally was all that Canada needed en route to their 1-0 victory over the reigning Cyprus Cup champions from England. The goal is Julien's second of the tournament and second game winner as Canada has now earned a spot in Wednesday's Cyprus Cup Final. Julien has has tremendous success at the Cyprus Cup over the past two years. Last year she tallied her first international goal for Canada, in her first-ever game, on her first-ever shot. Fast-forward a year and Julien is back at it again and now how three goal in international play for Canada. Julien and her teammates will close out round-robin play on Monday against South Africa.
[2010.02.25 - Larnaka, Cyprus] Fury Women Impress at Day 1 of Cyprus Cup Hearn and Julien Notch Game Winners The Opening Day of the Cyprus Cup kicked off on Wednesday with all 8 teams in action that saw 12 Fury representatives in action for their respective countries. Canada opened group play against Switzerland and found themselves behind 1-0 after Lara Dickenmann put the Swiss ahead in the 23rd minute. Only days after tallying her 100th career international goal, Christine Sinclair knotted things up 3 minutes later on a penalty kick and the Fury's Christina Julien, who notched 11 goals in the W-League in 2009, slotted home the winner early in the second half (53rd minute) to give Canada a 2-1 victory. Canada will now prepare to face last year's tournament champions, England, who were 1-0 victors over South Africa on Day 1.

Award Winning Women's Soccer
The Ottawa Fury name has become synonymous with spectacular women's soccer, and fans all across Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec know that their team is one of the best in the world. Ranked as high as 7th in the Women's World Football Top Teams list, the Ottawa Fury Women have complied an astounding 88-17-6 record in seven seasons. Four appearances in the W-League Final Four and two in the W-League Championship match in five years has firmly established the Fury as one of the premier teams in North American women's soccer.
In 2008, the Fury finished the regular season with only one loss, winning the Northern Division title and qualifying for the playoffs for an incredible seventh season in a row. A first round victory led to a tough overtime loss to the Indiana Lionesses in the Eastern Conference Finals, marking only the third time in their history that the Fury have failed to qualify for the W-League Final Four. The team sported a division-best record of 13-1-0 with 51 goals for and only 7 against, with thirteen different players gracing the scoresheet. Ashly Kennedy won All-Conference honours and Shay Powell was awarded a spot on the W-League All-League team for their outstanding efforts during the season.

Along with a host of team awards, Ottawa Fury players have won their share of individual awards, including the 2004 W-League Player of the Year trophy that went to Kelly Parker. Parker, a five year veteran of the Fury squad, was one of only three Canadians drafted by the new Women's Professional Soccer League. Sixteen Fury players have played for Canada at the U-20 or National Team level. Five former Fury players competed on 2007 World Cup teams, Rhian Wilkinson, Diana Matheson, Robyn Gayle and Taryn Swiatek playing for Canada and Faye White on the England side. |

| The W-League represents the highest level of Women's Soccer in North America with many of the best female players in the world participating. In each of the past six years, the Fury squad has qualified for the playoffs reaching the North American Championship Finals twice (2005 & 2006) only to fall short to New Jersey and Vancouver respectively; the North American Championship Final Four 4 times (2003-2006) finishing 4th in 2003 and 3rd in 2004. The Fury's W-League team has been ranked as high as 7th in the world by www.womensworldfootball.com. In 2006, the team included 12 players who had played for Canadian national teams, and five members of Canada's World Cup squad. This season (2008) brought a new look to the squad with a new Head Coach, Craig Smith, and a vast array of talent from across the United State and Europe. After winning their division for a 5th consecutive season with a record of 13-1-0 they defeated the Chicago Gaels in the Conference Semi-Finals (3-2) only to fall to the expansion FC Indiana Lionesses 4-3 in overtime. The team's regular season record over the past six seasons has amassed to 71-6-3 (best in the W-League).
