High Performance Camps
Led by Fury staff coaches, these high performance camps are designed for high-level competitive players who want to take their game to the next level. This intensive, physical program concentrates on developing technical and tactical knowledge of the game and is also a great opportunity to help identify players for the Fury's U11-U13 and Super Y League (U14 - U17) teams.
Players born after 1999
Learn how to improve your soccer abilities under the direction of experienced developmental Fury Staff coaches. This camp will concentrate on proper Technique and Skill with the emphasis being on providing a teaching environment. Topics covered will be, Ball Mastery, Passing and Receiving, Touch Development, Proper Heading Technique, 1v1, and team play in a small sided game format.
Players born before 1999
Topics covered during these camps include the 4-4-2 system of play; zonal defending; intelligent attacking, communication skills and supporting play. The emphasis for this program is more on tactical play than individual skills.
These Camps are available in 1⁄2 day and full day format. Each session will consist of a fitness element, technical development and tactical instruction in small sided games. The objective of the sessions is to challenge players, while making this a fun-filled week. Parents are welcome to watch daily activities.
Goalkeeper Camps
Specialist goalkeeper camps led by Fury Head Goalkeeping Coach David Bellemare assisted by Ottawa Fury W-League and PDL goalkeepers. The camp will concentrate on improving agility, strength, balance, flexibility, speed of reaction and explosiveness. These camps are 1⁄2 day (mornings) but may be combined into a full day camp by attending the High Performance Camp for the afternoon sessions.
Striker Camp
The striker is the one of the most important players on the field; their challenge is to consistently score goals. This camp will concentrate on both technical and tactical training. Technical Training will encompass; scoring under pressure, key turning techniques, drives, volleys, half volleys, bending and chipping, shielding the ball, winning 1v1 battles, long range shooting, and developing accuracy with power. Tactical training aims to develop a striker's mentality and will include: creating and finishing breakaway situations, attacking with your back to goal, attacking against one or multiple defenders, changing the point of attack, creating space to enhance goal scoring opportunities, timing of runs into the box, attacking cross balls, transitioning from defense to attack.
This camp is available to both boys and girls in a 1⁄2 day format only and will be led by Fury Technical Director, Colin McCurdy.
Fury Coaching Staff
The Ottawa Fury has one of the most experienced and qualified coaching staffs in Canada. Led by Technical Director, Colin McCurdy, who is a UEFA A level coach, the Fury coaching staff includes 3 UEFA B, 6 National B and 6 Provincial B coaches. During the camps, the Fury Coaching staff will be assisted by Fury W-League and PDL players, many of whom are players with extensive national team and coaching experience.
Algonquin College Soccer Complex
The Fury is delighted to announce that the 2008 Fury Summer Camps will be basedat the $4.9 million dollar soccer specific facility on the Woodroffe Campus of Algonquin College. This facility provides a 'state of the art' artificial surface lined specifically for soccer. The facility is floodlit and includes a club house which has 4 changing rooms, public washrooms, a physiotherapy clinic, coaches and officials rooms, a vending area as well as a seating area to relax. The Soccer Complex will also be the summer training home for the Fury's W-League, Premier Development League, Super Y-League and Academy teams.
