Help from above gets U16 the win over Cape Cod
Amy Savage nets two in 4-2 win An early sunny Sunday morning game saw the U16 girls facing the visiting MPS Lady Crusaders from Cape Cod at Keith Harris stadium.
Hoping to continue the early season winning ways the Fury looked to be the better team early on as the pressure on Cape Cod began. Unfortunately 10 minutes in that changed as Cape Cod scored on a slow and predictable attack from the right side that neither the midfield nor fullbacks were in position to deal with.
Fifteen minutes in though the Fury scored to draw even and then go to lead the game at the 30 minute mark. The half ended 2-1 for the Fury who made some great looking runs at the Cape Cod goal but also allowed a weaker team to be dangerous in our end.
The second half saw the Crusaders score first to tie the game due to a melt down defensively that saw the opposition striker run 50 yards to goal without much resistance. 2-2 50 minutes into the game in which the Fury was owning the ball 80%.
The Fury scored to lead 3-2 at the 55 minute mark and added another to finish the game 4-2.
A big thank you to Amy Savage who came over from the U17 squad to help us out. Amy netted two goals and was instrumental in attacks on Cape Cod's net. Lauren Hughes continued to light it up with another two goals of her own.

U16 Fury dominate Blackwatch SC
Scoring from four different players today Well the weather cleared up this morning which allowed the U16 Girls to host Blackwatch SC from Albany NY.
From the first five minutes of the game the Fury made dangerous attacks on Blackwatch's goal. Within ten minutes the Fury had a goal in their favor. The domination by the Fury continued as they went into the half with a 4-0 lead.
The second half did not see the Fury let their foot off the gas as within five minutes another Fury goal was netted. By the end of the game 7-0 was the score as the Fury took their second victory of the season and first spot early on in their New England pool.
Goals came from well set plays that the Blackwatch club could not defend against and scoring came from different areas of the pitch and from different players. Blackwatch were simply outmatched today by a terrifc effort from the girls.
Coach Zito was very pleased to the great start to the season for the team.

U 16 of to a strong start
Hughes nets three in win over MPS Maine They U 16 girls had there first game of the SYL season today as they took on the new to the SYL MPS Maine Phoenix. The game was played in very good conditions and both teams for the first 15 minutes looked to have even possesion of the ball. It seemed as if the Fury were a little nervous and were trying to push the ball through openings that were not there. After settling in the passing became crisper and the penetration of the Maine defence started. At 20 minutes into the game Lauren Hughes scored what was to be one of three for her on he day.
Maine's only answer came at the 30 minute mark as a ball bounced into the Fury 18 yard box and neither the keeper nor fullbacks were able to deal with it prior to a Maine player netting the ball.
Despite a shakey start, the Fury controlled most of the game through the midfield with Hughes having repeated attempts at goal through out the second half.
