Reflecting Back On a Memorable Year for the Fury

According to the Chinese calendar 2010 is deemed 'the year of the tiger', but after the year that the Ottawa Fury had 2010 truly was 'the year of the Fury'. From successes on the international scene with teams in France and England to youth players signing professional contacts to the W-League and PDL teams run in the playoffs it was an exciting season for the Fury. 2010 was capped of by the U17 capturing the Super Y-League North American Championship and the Fury Youth Program being ranked #2 in North America. With John Pugh's recent partnership with OSEG and his efforts to bring a professional soccer team to Ottawa 2011 is sure to be another exciting year for soccer in our Nation's Capital!

In Pursuit of Perfection
Fury U17 Girls Looking to Ride Perfect Season to SYL North American Championship
The pursuit of perfection, regardless of the sport, in not something that comes through luck or simply by chance. The dedication and hard work of players, coaches, parents and volunteers provides teams with the opportunity to function at their best. For the Ottawa Fury U17 Girls team they will carry their perfect season into Tampa, Florida with the goal of continuing their perfect season all the way to a North American Championship. The Fury U17 Girls boast an 8-0-0 record in the regular season outscoring their opposition 44-3. Lead by head coach Jimmy Zito, who also guided a U17 Girls team to the North American Championship Final in 2008, he hopes this team can go one step further. The USL highlights the five teams in pursuit of perfection and also speak with Fury coach Jimmy Zito about the SYL Finals.

Erturk Helps Turkish U-19 Squad Advance in UEFA European Championships
Melisa Erturk (#5 in team photo) continues to earn invaluable playing experience with Turkey. On Friday, her U-19 side upended Northern Ireland by a 1-0 score to help them advance to the second qualifying round of the UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championships. The win allowed Turkey to leapfrog Northern Ireland in the standings to finish second in the group with a 1-1-1 record. Second round schedule details have yet to be released.

Bernier-Larose Named Defensive Player of the Week
Bernier-Larose Posts Two Victories in Collegiate Debut; Adds an Assist for Good Measure

Ottawa Fury Youth Program graduate Audrey Bernier-Larose not only earned a scholarship to the Saint Leo University, but she also appears to have won the starting job in goal in her rookie season. Bernier-Larose posted a 3-1 victory over Webber International in her collegiate debut that saw her make 9 saves and also earn an assist. In her second game she helped the Lions post a 5-0 victory over Florida Memorial collecting her first career shutout for Saint Leo. All of this earned Bernier-Larose Defensive Player of the Week Honours.

Lily Wong Notches Hat-Trick in Impressive Gee-Gees Debut

When Lily Wong was brought into Sunday's OUA Home Opener for the Gee-Gees she quickly proved why she was such a sought after player from the Fury's Youth Program. In just a single half of play Wong notched three consecutive goals helping the nationally ranked (#5) University of Ottawa Gee-Gees to a 7-0 crushing of RMC.
